Good, but thin
THis is a good gloss over of tattoos. But, there isn’t a whole lot of content. I think what I was looking for is a picture book of tattoos.

Beautiful Book
This book is a work of art. Whenever I have friends over, we always end up looking through it. Some of the photographs are just awe inspiring.
I may be a bit biased as my fiancee is featured in this book (pg. 94), but I think this is one of the best tattoo books I’ve had the pleasure of looking at. While some of the designs chosen are a bit simplistic for my taste, it shows a wide range of tattoos in color and also black work.
I like that it doesn’t just feature big name artists. The author took into account many artists no matter how well known, based on their talent (which is how it should be). The photographs are amazing and you won’t believe some of them are tattoos because they look so real.
This is well worth the small price that is being asked for it. Any fan of tattooing would be pleased with the work in this book.

Excellent
I bought this book as a present for my sister-in-law who just started a tattoo business and she loved it.
This is an Excellent Book on Tattoos. The variety and quality of both the tattoos and the photos of them are extremely good. I have not got to read the text yet, I have been so engrossed in the photos. The book does not focus on just the big name tattooists like a lot of books out there, but this has not held back on the quality and originality of the pieces in the book.
Tattoo by Dale Rio and Eva Bianchini belongs to the best books currently available about Tattoo Art. Just skimming the book and looking these photo’s at a glance, it already reveals very excellent tattoos, made by some of today’s most well known, most talented tattoo artists in the world of tattooing. In beautiful, often very detailed photos, this book shows different tattoo styles, including very realistic tattoos, of which it is hard to believe these are actually tattoos. If you consider getting tattooed by one of the best artists and want something to inspire you, then certainly this book can be a great help to make yourself acquainted with the amazing possibilities of the most modern tattooing techniques, when applied by the most skilled Tattoo Artists. And once you got your own, very best Tattoo Art, who knows this book will be a great reminder of how you started to prepare yourself to obtain that personal Art.

Purchased as a gift, but it is adored!
I bought this as a housewarming gift for a dear friend of mine who is a tattoo artist. But before I wrapped it, I couldn’t resist taking a peek inside.
Talk to your local tattoo artist. He or she should be able to give you an idea of what will work best.

Today in Monterey, California, Nathan Augustine, 35, pleaded no contest to arson charges after confessing to throwing a Molotov cocktail into the Creative Visions tattoo parlor after the tattoo artists refused to give him a tattoo with a swastika and crosshairs overlaid on President Obama’s face.
beautiful song, breathtaking performance
It's possible, my sister got her fisrt tattoo to cover a scar on her back…
as for it effecting the way the tat will look…that definantly depends…
how much detail will be in the tat?, how big is the scar?, how raised is it?…ect.
You best bet will be asking a few artists about it, see what they can do…go to a few dif shops and ask what they all think and see if they have any opinions about it…
Hope this helps GOOD LUCK!!!

This is going to be very vague because it really all depends. If the studio can use another artist, and they like your stuff, and you have potential, they may agree to sign you on as an apprentice at no charge but you might have to contract to tattoo there a certain length of time after your apprenticeship is complete. Some do it for free labor around the studio but in my eye that seems to be dwindling.
Many now charge for apprenticeships and those fees vary widely. 1. It shows a stronger committment – money talks 2. They have no room for you in the studio after you are trained. You could expect to pay $4-6K or so. I have not really heard of more. Stay away from week or two tattoo "schools" as a primary source of training.
you might feel more pain than other places.but all you have to do is make sure you go the right place to get it done.

Word of advise.. dont buy cheap equipment..handwound coils using copper wires and iron cores are the ticket… Choosing the capacitor is depended on what type of machine your running. (liner/shader). also your machine might not even be set up correctly.. Dont go at it alone.. Do it oldschool and apprentice at a shop.

I would charge for a decent sized pic… 25-40 bucks at the most.
I agree with the others, but….I will answer some of your question since you asked. Yes it will hurt, it all depends on the size of the tat and where on your body you get it. It also depends on the person. Me, I have six tats that I designed myself, and they seemed to hurt less with each one. The last one I got was on my outer thigh and it hurt alot. The pain only lasts for about 15-30 minutes and you will be happy you are getting a tat so you won't pay too much mind to it.
The prices vary greatly! When you turn 18, or 16 in some states, be sure to check out your prospective parlor in detail. Ask around, check with the board of health, make sure they have a current license, and are clean, all that good stuff. I can't recommend any places in Cali, but try to stay away from vacation and tourist areas, they seem to charge alot more since many tourists will get a tat to 'remember their vacation'. Also, don't bother going to any of the places that have reality tv shows, because I am sure they charge out the a$$. I knew someone that got a large colored tat on their leg from on of the ones on tv and it sent her to the emergency room due to it getting infected. Now the colors probably won't heal right and it probably will look like crap.
So check out the local places, when you are of age, and check them out really well. If you get a bad feeling about any place, just leave.
Be sure you are clear on what you want and where you want it. It is for the rest of your life…it will be there when you are dressed for summer, going to the pool, on your wedding day, when you are at a job interview and when you are old and wrinklely!! So choose wisely!! Can't stress that enough. Also, you will have to take care of it for the rest of your life or else it will look like a faded, blurry piece of crap. Have you ever seen people with a tat that looks blue and you can't tell what the heck it is?? That's because they didn't care for it correctly, i.e. use sunblock when out doors.
The place I go to is very reasonable, a medium colored tat costs about 60-70 maybe less.
